Thanks for being here! The six of us at CoolWorks welcome you and wish you success in finding your Jobs in Great Places®!

Very excited at being offered the position of Banquet Manager at the Basin Harbor Club in Vermont for the 2018 Summer season. This will be my first seasonal gig, and am finding I am both excited and scared at the same time, which I think is healthy. I will be giving up my home and putting everything in storage, so will have no "home base", which is the scary part. My plan is to work seasonal jobs for one to two years and will travel or visit family between gigs. I have never been able to afford to travel and I think I have found a way to do that, hopefully. And, there is a large part of me that is looking forward to not being tied down to one place or having the responsibility and upkeep of a home. Looking forward to the future - have not felt this way in a long time! Wish me luck.

Patrick, thank you!  Best of luck to you as well, look forward to hearing how Yellowstone was. It is on my list and hope to make it there.  And, I agree this an opportunity of a lifetime,  I look forward to many more!

Hi Judi.  I think you'll like Basin Harbor.  I was there 10 years time flies.  I remember lots of weddings, or at least it seemed like it.  I was cooking breakfast over in the Ranger Room.  A big portion is "old money" New England who have been coming to the resort for generations.  My only regret about that season is I didn't take advantage of the golf course as much as I could have.  Welcome to seasonal life.

Thank you, Patty! The family that owns Basin Harbor seems amazing. I have read many reviews on work experiences there and all were very positive, especially regarding the family.

Judi - this is so exciting - and yes, terrifying, I imagine! Congratulations on taking the leap of faith and going for it. You've done all the legwork and you'll soar. Sarah Rossetti at Basin Harbor is a gem - she understands both sides of the employer / employee situation and is passionate about the Basin Harbor family.I have a friend who left Chicago (and all possessions that he couldn't carry in one car load) and headed to Mount Rainier - in Washington. Many years later, he's never looked back (except to see his brother strapped to a giant mortgage and a giant house). He worked at Rainer for years, took a full time job (and has housing provided on site) and in the past few years, "semi-retired" (again), and winters in Arizona (he did buy a condo there to have  a home base). Summers he works seasonally and travels and rides his road bike with a great big smile.  I'd love to plant a seed with you - if you're interested at all. We'd love to stay in touch and have you be a guest on our Journal page - as an inspiration for others. Go Judi!
