Thanks for being here! The six of us at CoolWorks welcome you and wish you success in finding your Jobs in Great Places®!

Well  I've been following my instincts by applying for job with the Federal Government again.  I was once told that if you did not have a degree, the chances of being hired as a park ranger were almost nill.  Today, I received my 10th referral for a position as a seasonal ranger and this time at Mesa Verde... now if they will only hurry up and hire me.... lol.

Hi Ann!  I got called yesterday about my VUA job.  Looks like I snagged a NPS apartment in Morefield campground for the summer :)  Looking forward to working the new VRC at the entrance, and possibly some entrance gate duty.  I should also be up at the museum once a week, and Morefield Ranger Station from time to time.  Keep me posted on your situation.

Sounds good Rick, I am always interested in getting out into the back of wherever I am.  However, not much of a hiker - tend to saunter too much and that tends to make my hiking partners very frustrated... lol.  Look forward to getting out there.  Two weeks training is great though.  Mesa Verde has always been one of my destinations as well as Yosemite, Kings and Sequoia.  Have been referred for those too as a Park Ranger Interpretative.  We will see... come on Feds... let's go!  Wonder if we will be sequestored again?

They need a ton of Interpretive Rangers so I'd say your odds are good.  The cert has not arrived for the VUA positions so the same sort of thing might be delaying Interpretive Ranger hiring.  The interps have to complete at least 2 weeks of training beforehand so I would expect you to hear something real soon.  Rumors are that Cliff Palace will finally be worked on this summer which will cut into the tour schedule.  Might be a little premature, but I'm open to doing some hiking/photography/off road stuff if you are interested. I have a Nissan Pro 4X truck :)

Thanks Rick - Just got another offer from Aramark from Mesa Verde too.... so, one way or the other, I may be there this summer.  LOL;  Yes, the position was as a Park Ranger - Interpretation.  I just wish they would get their caps on straight and lets go!

That's terrific Ann :) We might very well be working at the same place this summer.  I assume you were referenced for an interpretive Ranger position?  Hopefully everything works out for both of us and I'll be meeting you fairly soon.  Take care.  Richard
