Last year when my sons headed to Yellowstone to work for Xanterra, I knew that some how, some way, I would get there too. I've been a health care social worker for many years. I've burned the candle at both ends. As a matter of fact, my ends have met and the candle has fizzled out. So, when the stress level soars, it's time to get away to the great outdoors.
I'm 61 years old and I'm excited about cleaning rooms at the Old Faithful Inn. It will be a relief to do something physical and to actually have tasks to complete. Much of social work has no end or no results. For six months I won't have to put anyone in a nursing home or fill out endless paperwork. I'll also get to have an adventure with my family. I am so excited.
I invite you all to follow my blog at http://yellowstonedreaming.blogspot.com.
I plan on talking to other older adults who have made the decision to leave it all behind for a few months. If you haven't decided to go this year, follow my blog and see if this could be just the change of scenery you need.
