If you get the opportunity to be asked to work here... Take it by the horns!!! This place rocks!!! As a culinary professional, Stanford Camp was able to provide many opportunities all over the world and the US. Namely, working on Stanford Campus right now!!
As far as the Conference Center is concerned, as long as you work hard and follow their few simple rules, you'll have the opportunity to play hard as well. From the hike trails right off the back porch, to the lake use on the front porch. The food quality is sensational, and provide 3 meals a day, plus room and board!!! Decent wage with good tips and a prorated bonus at the end of the season. Plenty of things to do, as well as people from other seasonal gigs there to share their experiences as well. Not to mention meeting some guests who are the top innovators in the world!
The scenery is by far the most beautiful and serene you will find in the Tahoe area, let your friends feel envious as you show pictures of where you now live, work, eat, sleep, and play and most importantly get PAID to be at!!! From awesome kayaking on the lake, to hiking up towards upper and lower falls, to even hiking further up Mount Tallac, or up to Pyramid!!
Be prepared for the rustic surroundings, the one lane road all the way back there, the sorry your cell phone doesn't work out here, but We do have internet feel. NO TV, you have to drive into town for that! Feel free to Netflix... Oh and everything you buy, you buy at COST, no more only getting a 10% or higher discount, maybe even 40%, nope, you buy at COST.
My advice... Feel privileged to have worked at SSC, meet some new people, save some money, and start a new adventure during the summer and winter off seasons, and swing by for the spring and fall seasons for a recharge!!!!
