Living & Working in Great Places

So I have been doing seasonal work for over a year now! Hard to believe. I am back in Cooper Landing, I just could not miss out on the fishing. I was working in Denali for a month in a half the beginning of summer, but it just wasn't the place for me. Too touristy, I like the small towns of Alaska where everyone knows everybody. That's where I feel like I fit in.
Winter plans...Girdwood. I am pretty excited about it. I'm living with two friends I met last summer at Gwin's. We have an apartment, which means RUNNING water for the first time in a year. Being that I am from Florida I have never been snowboarding so my goal this winter is to get up on Alyeska as much as possible.
Life in Alaska has been so sweet. It's hard to believe I am still here and that I have lived from the coast, all the way to the interior and everything in between. Being back in the first place I arrived to makes it so unreal. I had no intentions on making this radical change in my life over a year ago, but it has been so rewarding living the way I do. Alaska truly feels like home now. And I couldn't be happier to call this place home.

Alaska is the best place in America... no 2 ways about it. Are the reds running?... The silvers are over here in Juneau, although weakly (I caught 4 in two days). Good luck with Alyeska; I am strongly considering it this winter also. Keep a-smilin.... :0)

I so know what you mean. I lived in Alaska for almost 3 years. I had to leave because my family needed me down here. I would love to go back, but I become torn between family and Alaska, and for me, Alaska wins. Alaska has some of the most wonderful people you will ever meet. I could go on and on about Alaska, but you already have figured it out. One of my favorite things was Halibut fishing...
