HR Gives Your Résumé 20 Seconds - Read the article by G.L. Hoffman ...
Speaking as a former HR person, I enjoyed the above article because it is really true. Don't expect a busy HR person to spend much time on your résumé. I'm not saying that you should not to have a résumé, but heed
G.L. Hoffman's advice and make it good and error-free.
At my former company, the policy was that all unsolicited résumés would not be accepted in lieu of an application. Certainly, it was fine to submit one with your application, but just don't send one in and expect to get a job. Also, my biggest frustration was receiving résumés that expected me to choose the job seeker's future job for them. A résumé should be specific to the job applying for, not just a toss it out there and see where it lands.
~ Don't be vague.
~ Be specific.
~ List your accomplishments.
~ Tailor the résumé to the job you are applying for.
So to challenge myself, here are some of my thoughts about my own six word résumé.
My photography résumé:
Making memories. Capturing Moments. Photographing You.
My CoolWorks.com résumé:
Connecting, promoting, changing lives.
Cool Works.
