Okay, so, my brain has been in full on teletuby mode since I got the Montana job. Here are some of my ideas for the children's program at Covered Wagon:
Most of these are subject to change depending on age, and other factors.
I was thinking about having each lil cowpoke (that's the name; Covered Wagon Cowpokes, I know, it's cheesy, but whatever, it's ADORABLE!! lol) make their own "customized" Covered Wagon bracelet! One of those twine bracelets that people make. I'll have them choose beads based on their experiences, ie what color their horse is (if they ride), what color their boots are, maybe if they saw a grizzly they would include a brown bead, if their favorite part of the stay was the bonfire, they would include an orange or red bead. Just things like that! That way they will have a memorable keep sake of their fun times as a covered wagon cowpoke!
We could have a major fort, that every kid will contribute too throughout the summer! Then once we have done our part for the day, we could have a picnic inside of our fort!
Also, what would be really fun would be having a scavenger hunt throughout the ranch! The cowpokes would have to figure out the little riddles to go find the next item, then at the end, there will be a dum dum, or some other form of candy waiting for them!
We could have a cowpoke rodeo! Not a real rodeo of course, but a bunch of events like a boot race, egg toss, an obstacle course, and other fun things!
Also we could get a bunch of pebbles together, spray them gold, and then put them back in the stream or pond. Then later have the kids go "panning for gold"!!!
There's plenty more where this came from, but tell me what you think!
