Living & Working in Great Places

james

yellowstone... my home away from home :)

so if you dont know by now i was heading to yellowstone for the summer. well... now im HERE! it is very cool and have already started making new friends. everyone seems really cool. the 1st day i got here was a looong day. went through orientation and all that fun stuff and tried not to fall asleep during it. lol. well afterwards, i got assigned a room and went to unpack. well i get to my room in the juniper dorm and my room mate wasnt there but his stuff was. next thing i know im about to go out and sit on the porch and my roommate bill walks in. im like "yo whats up dude?" and we introuce ourselves and hes like "want to go for a hike?" and im like "yeah man." well it was suppose to be like 4 of us... 12 ended up going, lol. we ended up taking a 10+ mile hike and only 6 of us made it back. me, bill, mao mao, jeremy, brian and another girl whos name i forget : / sorry. the rest hitched hiked back up the mountian and all got rides, lol. i saw a ton of stuff. we had a blast but def were dreading the last like mile, lol. the first 5miles... all down hill. now the next 5... uphill of course. lol. i thought i was gonna be hurting so bad the next day but actually ended up feeling fine. on the hike we went to the boiling river that even in the winter you can get in cause its that warm. its really cool. we just stuck our hands in it though. its reallly warm and cool. so the past couple days i have been training. i was originally suppose to work in the employee dining room doing i dont even know what. well now im going to be the pubtender instead :) so thats awesome. i get like the best hours. i dont have to go in till 7ish. pm. so i have the whole day to fish, hike, drive around and explore my new 2.2million acre back yard. its totally cool. but i have never trained for a job so this is all new to me. even tho i have bartended at babes for so long i still have a bunch of new stuff to learn. new computer system to ring up food and drinks. beer prices because theres mostly micro brews wich rocks! tomorrow, me and the other 2 pubtenders (trina and kasey. very cool) learn to make some pizzas and other stuff that well have at the pub. and were doing that around dinner time so that means no EDR food! were pretty excited about that cause the food here... isnt the best. lol. its been snowing the past couple days so i havent been able to go hiking but training make ya tired anyway. were suppose to get like a foot of snow between today and tomorrow (im having a brain fart. i think that might be spelled wrong). anyway i have a cool roommate. met some cool people. and am in the coolest place i have ever been. im so glad i came out here. i miss a few people that are back in jersey alot but they know that this is where i belong. well i think im gonna go find something to do around the dorm. peace everyone.

Love it... welcome to Yellowstone!

If you're free there's a gig in the Mammoth Hotel Map Room tonight at 5:30 by Beth Pratt. She's the Director of Environmental Affairs for Xanterra in Yellowstone and is very sharp.

See you there?
