Thanks everyone for your insights. After thinking about it, I have decided to stick closer to home. Say the lower 48:) Maybe Yellowstone or Grand Canyon. Anyone have suggestions on where I should start my job hunt?

Either one should be a great summer gig... not sure about the winter though... Brrrrrr... I have buddies who work Yellowstone in the summer months and go to Everglades in the winter... Both are pretty touristy... why not just flip a coin... then do the next one the next year/season?
Reggie ya didn't see what? As for where Ive worked I've worked 4 locations in the park, from Mammoth, to Grant, to Lake and old faithful. In Yosemite I worked Curry Village and then I worked two resorts outside Yellowstone, (Togwotee and Flagg) and then two seasons at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, In total 11 years. I did work for two different company's in Yellowstone also. Befor DNC it was the orrigional owners of the General store, The Hamiltons, and I worked one season with them, the next season is when DNC took over.
Thomas you worked Yellowstone????? hmmm work with you all summer and find out sumpin new after were gone. Yellowstone in my opinion is theeeee park. Much more to do and see. Grand Canyon is nice but Yellowstone has a whole lot more. It even has a mini grand canyon, plus back country, bears, geysers, hotsprings, trails and on and on and on. Canyon has trails and a very large colorful hole in the ground. Has lots of mule deer at the North Rim and some interesting old paintings done by the native population. I even tried Yosemite and it just wasn't Yellowstone. Oh it does have a small section on the application that you can type in where u would prefer to work.
i had worked at Yellowstone and Grand Canyon North Rim , i liked Yellowstone better .
housing , food , activities are a whole lot better than North Rim .
best location , Old Faithful , Snow Lodge .
The best time, depending on whether mom-and-pop or corporate can be from Dec. to March. Corporate types hire earlier and mom-and pops later. Which places are best depends entirely on what you like... hot or cold? Mountains or Beaches? Crowded or remote? Party or wilderness? and on and on....
Old Faithful is NOT great $$$$ I just left there and made less than 1/2 of what I made in Alaska the year prior for the same number of hours. Most tips are credit which are on the paycheck, not cash at the end of the day. If you want Yellowstone, I would actually recommend Snow Lodge because it is more chill than Old Faithful and believe it or not, you make more $$$. Expect 3 split shifts per week and only 3 dinner shifts. The others will be breakfast/lunch or Breakfast. That being said, Yellowstone is a great place to make friends from all over the world. Just be aware that as a server you will work a lot and the $$$ will be over-rated. If $$$ are important, try Jackson, WY where it is busy and you make cash. You will be near Yellowstone and the Tetons, which are even prettier than Yellowstone.
Yellowstone, I really liked it. Apply online for yellowstone, I don't know if you can state a preference on work location or not, but Old Faithful is a fun location.
