Morning Kevin! (well...at least its morning here in Shanghai ;P)...it seems u really had a lot of fun last summer in yellowstone..is there any special suggestion u wanna offer? and since ur thinking abt going around this world...if ur coning to china..u'll be more than welcome!
Ah, the dreaded mossie!:) Thanks for ur response, and I'll definately be bringing a mosquito netted hat(personal net) and lots of repellent to keep those suckers off me. You've been such a sport! Hooray for Kevin!
Hey Kevin, thanks for gettin back to me! How'd you find hiking in the tundra and on ridges(hard-easy)I've been hearing a mixed bag of answers? Also did you always carry a map and compass for navigation? Last but not least, are there lots of bears, hiking, or around camp? I spent the last four years in SW Montana, but still a little weary :) ! Well, thanks for all your help I really appreciate it!!! :)
HI Kevin! So you're going to coldfoot camp? I just had my second interview today. He told me I should know by friday. It sounded very promising. When are you headed over there? As of now if I do get the job{I believe I do} I will be leaving here probably on May1st. I LOVE your photos! I can't wait to see Alaska again. I just can't wait to lace up my hiking boots, throw on my pack and go. Would love to hear about your adventures!?
Hey Kevin I know you've been getting alot of questions for coldfoot, but alas you seem to be the only one on this site who's been there. So here's a couple more if you'd be so kind. Satellite internet, is this something I can use with my laptop? Also, do you have any ideas or suggestions for keeping warm in the cabin? Thanks so much in advance.
When you worked at coldfoot did you drive up? I am looking for someone who has driven to AK before, my friend and I have applied to a job in AK not set in stone that we'll be hired, but if we are we plan to drive. Was curious about a route from someone with expirience :D
Hey thanks for the comment and I replied to you on the blog. My dream job is to own a campground or back country rach too. Have you looked into in at all? My family used to own a campground so Im pretty familiar with it. Oh and if you liked my blog there feel free to check out my website.... http://www.outdoortravellife.com
it was taken at Carter Caves in Kentucky. Nothing real exciting, but the scenery is amazing. I can see youve been around alot! thats awesome man. Im trying to get on at Olympic this summer.
There are a couple things you can do if there are more than 3 jobs you would be interested in. My first suggestion would be to respond to whoever from Princess contacts you, and tell them you would be interested in other stuff too. A second option is to fill out another application for the other jobs. The 3rd is, tell me where you are intersted in applying and I'll give the manager a call and tell them myself for you.
I was researching some posts in the forum regarding coldfoot camp in alaska, and saw that you know quite a bit about the place. i am planning on working there this summer (june-sept), and had a few questions about the place that i was hoping you could answer for me.
what is the average age of the staff? i'm in my early 20's.
how easy is it to get out of the days off and go hiking/camping? i really want to make the most of the experience.
is there any job position there that you wouldn't recommend?
thanks for your help...your pictures look amazing, and it sounds like coldfoot was an awesome experience for you.
Thank you so much for the information Kevin, it was exactly what I was trying to find out. I applied and already have an interview for in a few days. I am excited to see how this pans out.
I am a photogapher hoping to invest in a good manual/digital camera....your photographs are wonderful, what do you use?
My name is Megan and I am interested in working at Coldfoot Camp from June-January this upcoming year and was hoping you would be able to give me some information.
Very nice... well...are you working through out the entire season there? I started out in 2002 in Flagg Ranch and had to get the heck out and ended in Coulter Bay for the rest of the season. Anyhow, i am so so looking forward to my time in the Tetons. I'm in texas right now visiting family and sweating non-stop. ttyl~
