So I know they are still looking for someone at the front desk, bell man, reservations, housekeeping, and warehouse. I recommend you call HR directly and talk to Steve. Tell him you are very interested. I must tell you though they only pay $8,00 which is CA minimum wage. Don't mention my name. It may only hurt your chances. We didn't have TV so I couldn't verify. (I did a lot of reading) We did have a land line phone and signed up with a local internet service. The cell phone worked if you stood by the door, facing east, right hand in the air, with your foot in a piece of metal....you get the idea. I was told "they" were working on getting another tower for better reception so maybe.

At 9:57am on March 29, 2009, Joan Meyer said…: The last year I was there 2004, we had a construction crew staying in the upper circle with us. They were rebuilding the road from Canyon to Tower. The RV camp was extended for the extra people so a lot changed. I don't know how it is this year. Maybe somebody can clue us in. DNC has two stores at Canyon 1 is a small camp store and the other is a big general store with a diner (50's)style, and merchandise. They had a book section, jewelry, clothing, food, and souveniers. The shifts varied, some were split into 4 morning & 4 night because the store could be really busy at those times. Its in walking distance from the RV camp via a path through the woods. You have to be careful about not leaving stuff outside to attract bears, bring mosquito repellant, and if its very dry they will have fire restrictions -outside grilling would then be by propane. I hope you will like it as much as I did.

At 1:38pm on February 14, 2009, Ryan & Nicole said…: We are in Quartzsite AZ right now. It's a winter haven for RV'ers. Google Quartzsite and you'll see what I mean. We weren't going to leave IL until April (when our summer jobs start), but our house sold before we excpected so we had to either hit the road or get an apartment.

We had good luck coming to town and finding work. Most resturants are only open from Nov-March here. There isn't really anything here most of the year. It's been a nice winter here, but I'd like to go somewhere else next year.

We may go to Yellowstone this summer. We applied, but it took months to get a reply. We accepted positions somewhere else, but we may change our minds when we get our final offers from Yellowstone. We'd be working at Old Faithful.

We have not worked for dnc at yellowstone, and so couldn't say anything about it. The concession companies are very different from one location to another. At Sequoia we had a problem getting the same days off together (something they always promise to do for you, but some don't mean it.) As for RV's in winter at Sequoia, I can guarantee it won't happen. Their RV area can only accomodate RV's in the summer. There are no exceptions to this. DNC as a company was OK.

As far as cell phone service at Canyon, I don't think it works too well there. About the only places you can somewhat count on it working is in Mammoth and Old Faithful area. It really depends on where you are standing at any given moment in other parts of the park.

I know that sounds funny but it's true! I know at Tower there was one spot that got cell reception and you had to be standing EXACTLY in that one spot or no service! Hope this helps.

The weather in Yellowstone is perfect to me in the summer. not to hot or cold. Right around in the 70's. It can be funny though. All in the same day you can get patches of sun, rain, even snow. Kinda weird to see. When I mean patches I actually mean patches as in maybe a foot across.
