Great! I would recommend bringing clothes for all sorts of weather. Obviously it gets cold at night, but it's nice enough during the day for shorts and t-shirt, and it will storm I'm sure. I'm not much help I bet, I always forget something that I meant to take whenever I go anywhere except backpacking so maybe I'm not the best person to be giving advice! I'm sure by the time you get there I'll have already discovered what I forgot this time! It's gonna be kinda strange up there for a week before most people start showing up. And I know what you mean about there being so much to do, there's something different everyday if you want it! Can't wait,,, talk to ya soon.
Oh that's cool the Chalet is a good place to work. It kind of seems a lot of the people are either working there or at the princess. There are a lot of people and you will never be bored there. Yeah I am working my second season at the Mckinley Village Lodge as the lead AM cook. If you have any questions don't be a stranger.
Hey Kayla! From what i can remember, you're right, it's within walking distance, of course everything is i think. I'm going to be working groundskeeping at the "nest". I'm soo damn excited I can't stand it. We can definately meet up when you get in to town, I'll have already been there for about a week i think. Are you nervous since you've never done this sort of thing before? If so, let me tell ya, i haven't done it for a few years and can honestly say i am all over again. Don't worry though, everyone is going through it also, so it's very easy to find friends you can relate with. Talk at ya soon! -Brent
Hey! I'm going to be working at the Crow's Nest this year! I'm starting May 2nd. Can't wait! Hope to get to know ya a little in the next month or so, drop me a line!
Yeah from what everyone has told me it is going to be a ton of fun!! I can't wait to get up there and experience the outdoors and meet some new people.

Hey kayla! I'm Hayley and i am going to be working in Alaska this summer at MPL! I saw your paige and was wondering if you would be working for princess too! it would be way cool if you were! I worked there last year to and loved it!!!
Courtyard is a busy restaurant for sure. I worked at the Nenana View, which is in the main lodge. It has a nice bar in it (you'll probably hang out there when not at the bake)
the housing isnt that bad its manily just an place to sleep ur probably be going to doing more then just being in your room theres alot of things to do there
I've been looking on expedia... found decent deals i suppose given the area and rate of living, nothing easy on the pockets though, but i suppose that just goes with the territory of flying in this day & age...
Hi Kayla. Which restaurant at the Chalet are you working at? There are two, as well as a dinner theater, and they're very different. The F&B manager is a dear friend of mine, and though I've never worked for him, he is a wonderful person. Housing and food is seasonal housing and cafeteria dining, unfortunately. Rooms are small. Don't think you will get out of having a roommate. It's pretty much inevitable unless you're a manager. Older housing have no showers or restrooms in the room. There's a common bathhouse not far from the dorms. Sounds terrible, but you really get used to it. Hard not to be friends with your neighbors when you have to pass them in walking to the shower or restroom in the wee small hours of the morning. Anyways, if you're open-minded and into new experiences, you will have a fabulous time. Comment back if you have any more questions. I worked up there for 5 summers and lived in Anchorage for 3 winters. Hope you have a great summer.
