tell me bout it the loans suck I guess I kinda lucked out I couldnt get a loan so my mom cosigned for the first year and then paid it off, but when it came down to the 2nd year I couldnt get a loan I have been paying 1000 a month. so atleast I dont have to pay everthing back. I think she paid it just because I am 27 and have been in other schools since I was 18 and never would finish. I was hired at the grand canyon south rim as a prep cook for xanterrra, and I herd they where a bad company to work for plus I didnt pay $50,000 to be a prep cook especially when I have my own catering company. Aramark offered me a advance cook position making allot more.
I'm in San Francisco. I have not finished yet though. I have a three week class left starting April 6, and then my externship is in Denali. are you working in Denali also?
ha ha yeah... she just got hired to work up in alaska today. i'm so excited i have someone to share my awesome experiences with. especially my best friend, like she is.
Chefness - you ROCK - you said what was needed to be said to Mr Big Sky Complainer .... in a smooth, articulate, honest, kind, calm manner - you are SO NOT a typical Chef :) Congrats for that. The food world needs more people like you. Have yourself a GRAND time at the Canyon - you'll love it there.
Hell, I feel great. Nothing like getting an email saying "we'll contact you in two weeks." Then getting a phone call the next day and after a 10 minute interview getting the same response, and then getting 6 more calls in the next few minutes and hired the day after.
Hey thanks, that's awesome! Do you know when the winter season starts for them? Because I am going to be in Alaska until September. How long are ou working at the North Rim?
