I've been told that Delaware NC will hire for a split season because a lot of college kids have to go back to school. I get the impression that they would work until around August 1 and they would be looking for us retired people fron Aug.1 to end of Sept. I haven't worked there before but was out there the month of Sept. 2010. It was an great time to be in the park with fall weather and less crowds. To get your foot in the door you might make yourself available to them on that basis and get your foot in the door. Also, it wouldn't be such a long commitment the first time around. I was hesitant to commit for too long to make sure I could fullfill my commitment which of course would give me a better chance of being rehired next year if I enjoy it. Just my two cents but maybe a different angle.
Hi again Keith ..... yeah, I just keep my eye on USAJOBS.gov for interesting Park Service opportunities. It took me a few tries before I finally got hired, but it has been a great experience so far. I really love what I'm doing right now :-)
Hey Keith, Yellowstone was a great place to work. I worked for Yellowstone General Stores(dnc) Upper Store Old Faithful Area. I was a cashier for my first contract luvd it. It ended in August wanted to stay till close signed second contract for edr(employee dining room) as kitchen assistant luvd it too. It was my first seasonal now I'm hooked and I luv this site very addictive. :)
