Hi I saw your post about ride sharing. I live South of you in Mammoth and will be heading to Alaska and returning about the same time. If you are interested in ride sharing hit me up and we can maybe discuss details on the phone or somthing. Im a very laid back guy, all about camping and saving money.
I have less than 24 hours to go! And here I am, on the computer...I think I'm done picking up all the last minute necessities, until I get to Anchorage that is! Will need to do some grocery shopping, which only adds to the amount of stuff I have! If only I wasn't bringing all my climbing gear, but alas, it's what keeps me going, and I would feel lost without it....speaking of which, just bought 6 new quickdraws..anyone want to help break them in??? Off to go reorganize once again, so my stuff will be allowed on the plane....suitcase is 60 lb and backpack is only 30 lb, so I need to even them out, so I don't have to pay. Unfortunately, this means that all my stuff will be completely disorganized, until I get to the hostel, and reorganize it to how I originally wanted it packed! Off I go...no more procrastinating, the plane won't wait for me......
Most likely i will be in either california and arizona. I plan on doing that ACE volunteer thing out there; either starting in june or july. And it runs 12 weeks. Plus I plan on roadtripping back eaSt, so, i'm pretty wide open in driving anywhere to do it.
I am only staying in Anchorage the night of the 15th and the next day I am taking the shuttle down to Cooper Landing. Where are you staying in Anchorage? I haven't booked a hostel yet or anything. We should definitely plan on meeting up!
Hello. Ill be working at McKinley Village as a server. I cant wate to get out there. you seem to like to do alot of the same things i do. Maby we can plan a hiking trip or something. When are you gonna get out there?
Hey Nicholle, hows the planning and packing going? We got a foot of snow dumped on us today! It is beautiful with all the snow, but hard to work outside in it! Your lodge opens this weekend and we are gonna go up and have dinner, I will take some pictures for you if you want. Hope all is well with you, see you soon!
It will be here before you know it! Lots of work up here at the lodge to get ready to open for the summer. Been pretty cold still, around the 20's in the morning. Should start to warm up soon I hope. Hope your packing is going well.
"Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you and the storms their energy, while cares will drop from you like the leaves of Autumn."-John Muir
Hey Nicholle. I was out by where you are gonna be today. And wow is it in the middle of no where. I mean nothing at all around it for 20 miles one way and about 100 miles the other way. Not much in the way of places to even hike around the grounds. Are you driving up? Otherwise you will be stuck like chuck with not much to do. The place closes pretty early too my Boss said. I have some pictures, but my internet connection is really slow tonight due to a storm blowing through, but hopefully I will get them up soon for you to see.
We did the Key Hole route, which is not quite as technical of a journey. But still a good test of my skills, and a ton of fun. A few scary points going through the ledges, and my shins hurt after going through the boulderfield. But it was all worth it for the view and the experience!
Your time will get here before you know it! Then its like holy crap I am leaving for Alaska tomorrow! Looks like you have been to some pretty cool places climbing, could learn a lot from you it seems. I went to the Rocky Mountain Climbing School last summer in Estes Park and we did Longs Peak. That was an intense trip! Hopefully there will be places to go around where we will be. Well take care, and talk to you soon!
