I currently live in Portland, OR but am getting ready to move up to Alaska and begin a new life for myself. I will be bartending at the Kenai Princess Lodge for the summer. When done in September I hope to find a job and place to live in Anchorage, Homer, or Seward dependent upon oppurtunity. I would absolutely love to chat with new people, ask questions and maybe even make some new great friends in my soon to be new home?! I've only worked one previous seasonal job before, that was in Breckenridge, CO at the ski resort. So if anyone is heading that way and has questions, I would be more than happy to share my experiences and recommendations. Thanks for your time and happy travels!

I'd like to head over mid-May and be back mid-July...backpack around...see stuff. I'm not sure where I want to go for sure, that's up for debate. If you're interested in some or all of that time, let me know!
I moonlight as an internet stalker.
School is going alright, it's getting down to the wire. I will probably be going somewhere else next summer...I was thinking Europe for a couple months. Alaska is my fallback at this point. What are you thinking? -- wanna join me? ;)
hey there, you heading into copper landing today? let me know when you get up here, and we will come visit yall over at the princess. we have cars!!! hope your travel is easy and they dont lose your luggage. the weather is great and the moose are out. see ya soon. my cell number is 573-291-7739 if you wanna call or whatnot.
Hey Breaze, I was over by where you are going to work today, and it is beautiful. Looks over the kenai river, like right on a real tall bank on the river. You will love that view everyday. Surrounded by mountains everywhere you look. Just amazing! Looking forward to coming over and buying a drink from you and finding out your reaction to this crazy valley.
P.S. since you are staying in Anchorage this winter, give me some time and I will try to remember the good places in winter... there is good $$$ to be made in winter also. Opti-staffing is a temp firm that set me up quickly and well. Longhorn (Longbranch?)Saloon is famous for their burgers and is the friendliest saloon in town (thus very busy). There are more, but I can't think of the names now. You may want to consider Alyeska @ Girdwood (37 miles south of Anchorage)... I have friends in the banquet department and there are many cool people who hang out there. The hostel is cheap and you can stay for a decent amount of time. BE CAREFUL of cheap rents in Anchorage... there is a very serious gang problem in Anchorage (to the point of 2 public shootouts at the mall 2-3 years ago). Cheers, thanks for all your kind help amiga.... akscootr
