The farms in HI are a big thing for those who are trying to live a sustainable life style and "off the grid". Most farms let you live there for free in a little hut or house just as long as you work 10 to 20 hours a week. The work is usually pretty easy too, and if you want to work more, they'll pay you for it. Most farms are completely solar powered and run off of catchment water via the rain. Plus there's fruit growing all over if you get hungry. I lived on the Big Island over on the Hilo side. What all did you do on the Cruise ship? Did you make a lot of money?
The Alaska thing... Well, It's going to be my first time up there. I got a job as a guide for a company that does high rope courses. Zip-lines and suspension bridges something like 150 feet up. I think they're still hiring guides. The website is www.alaskacanopy.com if your interested in that sort of thing.
So you worked in Hawaii? What did you do there? I lived there for about 8 months on one of those sustainable farms. Did you do something along those lines?
