Sorry about all my grammatical errors earlier. Anyway, we'll definately have to hit the trails. Does the company usually give everyone a couple of days of in a row to hit the back country? I'm lined up to work retail, but I haven't really talked to the lady about it yet all that much. However, I plan to do so soon. I also plan to buy a trail book, any recommendations? One more question and I'll leave you in peace, is there a lot of college people, or is it mixed with employee age groups? Thanks again for the info! I'm just trying to get an idea from someone like yourself who has been there and done that, this way I know what to expect and all the great stuff to look forward to! Peace

Sorry about missing your message on the chat board, doing reasearch. Anyway, I'm supposed to arrive June the 6th, so I will miss the river unfortunately. I'm back in college so that has me limited on time. Sounds good the the advice. I've had a hard time finding people who have worked here, as I mentioned you are the only one so far. I worked in Glacier last summer, great summer! So I want to do something cool this year too! I also apprecaite the info on the beers, as for I don't really want to spend a summer in a dry community. That is also good advice on the snakes. I'm not ral big fan of them, bring on all the other wildlife though! What do you do there at Kings?

Thanks for the info, it was helpful! Apparently, I have been accepted at Grant Gorve Village, and I'm aware that it is on the outskirt of the park. Nonetheless, my questions are: is the company down on a person who likes to enjoy a few beers after work on the property, or are there college kids there that like to have a good time? Also, do you know anything on the housing, and how often do you run into rattlesnakes out hiking? Those are the only questions I really have. You are the only person I've been able to find who has worked here. Thanks again and Peace!

I was wondering if you worker for sequoia kings canyon services company or park service, or something else. I'm trying to find some info on kings park sevices company and was hoping maybe you could help me out. Peace

May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view...where storems come and go as lightning clangs upon the high crags where something strange and more beautiful and more full of wonder than yhour deepest dreams waits for you...beyond the next turning canyon walls. -Edward Abbey "Benediction"

It is a great book.

If it is anything like last summer it will probably not be a problem. We had positions for Maintenance Techs posted all summer...and still do for the winter season. The ski area is going to continue to grow with more hotels, condos, etc. and we always need people who have those skills. Have a great winter!

It was when I was there. I got fed up with mgmt after my 5th season and gave my notice. Just isn't the same company it used to be. I found a job at a summer camp in Maine for twice the money and I get free room and board. Lot less agrivation too.

Yes I have heard his story. I think he's still out there somewhere. He was a true survivor from what I understand. If he has passed then he went out in a place that he loved. Hope I am thinking of the same guy. Send me the book when you are done. I need a good read...

Have you read The Last Season By Eric Blehm? I am currently reading it. It has some to do with Sequoia/Kings Canyon NP. It's a true story about Randy Morgenson. Have you heard of him? I recommend checking it out.
