Profile Information

Hometown:
Colorado Springs, CO
About Me:
I am an avid outdoorsman. I like hiking, camping, climbing, kayaking, swimming, going to the beach, weightlifting, music, movies, and photography. I'm originally from the Bay Area, (San Jose, CA) and I grew up in shadow of Pikes Peak (Colorado Springs, CO). I am a lifelong member of the Raider Nation, a fan of the San Francisco Giants, San Jose Sharks, Colorado Rockies, and Colorado Avalanche. I attended High School at Air Academy High. Go Kadets! Then I went to college in Grand Junction Colorado (Mesa State College). Go Maveriks! I've spent 10 summers and 1 winter in Alaska - starting in Denali Park, then a couple summers in Talkeetna, Juneau, and Seward, 5 winters in Utah (Park City, Alta), 2 winters in Florida (Everglades), 2 winters in California (Yosemite, Santa Catalina), 2 autumns in Virginia (Shenandoah), and two partial seasons in Maine (Bar Harbor). With my fiancee Erin, I've lived in 11 states (AK, HI, UT, ME, FL, WY, NM, CA, LA, AZ, MA), and alone I've lived in 4 others (CO, VA, NV, WA). Alaska is by far my favorite. Right now we are getting ready to leave Massachusetts for our new job in Montana. My ultimate goals are to: travel to all 50 states ( I've been to 48), to visit all the National Parks ( I've been to 30), and to spend an entire summer watching baseball games in each major league ball park.
Last Seasonal Job:
Winnetu Oceanside Resort
Favorite Seasonal Job:
My favorite seasonal job was in Everglades City, Florida. I was a canoe and kayak rental agent, where I was able to shuttle people throughout the Everglades. On a daily basis, I got to see herons, ibises, alligators, and manatees. I also enjoyed being close to some of the best beaches in Florida - South beach in Miami, and Tiger Tail beach on Marco Island. Being near Disney World, Busch Gardens, Sea World, Spring Training and Key West, was quite fun, and being able to share these experiences with my fiancee Erin made it all the better.

next job

Well the winter season here in Arizona is just about over. Actually I would have said winter here ended about mid-February, but officially, when Mother's Day comes around, we will be checking everyone out of the Ranch and locking the doors behind them. YEE-HAW!!! This was a long season, compared to others that we have worked - from the beginning of October to the middle of May. That's 7 1/2 months. The usual length of jobs that we have done usually last upwards of 5 months, and my body knows thi… Continue

Hiking in the desert

When we first came to Arizona and the Sonoran desert, I can definitely say I never expected to see this much beauty, color, and life. With all the rain we got in January and February, the wildflowers are starting to bloom. The Mexican Golden Poppies are definitely the brightest, with their orange and gold petals. The Lupine is always a favorite, growing taller each day, and adding a touch of purple to the landscape. I can't wait to see the cactus blooms. They should start blooming in April. Spi… Continue

AZ Super Bowl

Well the Big Game is over, and I am quite happy to say that New England did not win. Not to say that I am a Giants fan, but just quite less of a Patriots fan. My fiancee Erin and I recently volunteered to help out with Super Bowl activities. We did one volunteer shift helping distribute clothes and toys with the Salvation Army. That was quite a rewarding experience, one that I will always look back on and smile. Our next major volunteering event was not so much anything to do with the game, or t… Continue

Volunteering

Well it's that time of the year again. Football season is coming to a close. My team, the Oakland Raiders, unfortunately are not in this year's game. BOO-HOO! I guess there is always next year. On a more cheerful note, Erin and I got to meet Spike, the mascot of this year's Super Bowl, since we are going to volunteer at this year's Big Game. We are going to be helping out in the NFL Experience tent, which is where all the people who have tickets enter through to get to the stadium. We will be he… Continue

Beautiful Arizona

Well, we are now in Arizona, and it is quite beautiful here. There are Saguaro cactus, tarantulas, diamondback rattlesnakes, javelina, and probably the most breathtaking sunsets that I have ever seen. When we got here to Arizona, it was a balmy 95 degrees, but what else do you expect here in the "Valley of the Sun?" It has been almost a month, and the temperatures are still pushing 90 degrees. I don't know about all of you out there reading this, but I have definitely become more of a cold we…

Hey Begee,

Finally! So sorry for the hassle but so great to see you made it in. We haven't been able to focus on this much this week but I have seen that they're ironing out some of the invite/sign on options.

Thanks for hanging in there.

We'll put more effort into shaking this down and hope to ready to get some more folks in here next week.

Woo Hooo,

Bill
