Thanks for being here! The six of us at CoolWorks welcome you and wish you success in finding your Jobs in Great Places®!

I have just found this site. I have only noticed old/bold people in their 40s and 50s. I am in my 60s and my sister is in her 70s. We are interested in doing this type of work, but am wondering if employers have an age limit.

Also, I am wondering about the average pay I can expect. I have to continue working due to losses in this current economy.

Any info you can give a beginner would be appreciated!!

I read this whole blog and got idea's from it. I've not been in any of these fields yet. I've just been thinking about doing it a few times for fun.
Xanterra has lots of year round jobs. Also try DNC (Delaware North). They also have lots of year round offerings that include housing, the cost of which is deducted from your pay--but it's not a lot. You will have a roommate, which isn't always ideal.
I have applied to Death Valley and the south rim. Nothing yet. Will try DNC. Do you know anyt5hing aboutthe Bhuddist thing in California?
You should have some luck with those applications. There is always a big turnover of people; so if you are dependable and have some decent references, you'll get hired. It just may take a little time.

As for the Buddhist place, I don't know of anyone personally who's worked there. They are constantly advertising, which makes me wonder. It's very isolated and most likely don't allow drinking, which would be a big drag for me. I love to drink wine. I also feel it would have a bit of a cult atmosphere, which again would mean isolation. Let us know how your job search pans out. Jim
The time frame is a problem. I applied last week to Xanterra and I need a place to live very soon. Maybe 30 days. I bug Xanterra but don't want to bug them too much. They say it take 5 weeks???
Send out apps and call other jobs in the meantime.
