Living & Working in Great Places
Thanks for being here! The six of us at CoolWorks welcome you and wish you success in finding your Jobs in Great Places®!
Hi all, I'm new here. Really glad to see that there are people my age and older out there doing this. I'm just 40, but I've been wondering how difficult it might be to get hired at a resort as a server. I figured this site looked mostly for young college kids.
I've got one interview for a lodge in Alaska next week. It freaks me out that I actually went ahead and did this. The resort is in a town called Moose Pass, population approxomately 200. I could not find any statistics regarding summer population. I visited Alaska in 1998 and was astounded at how expensive it is to be a tourist. Since then, I always wanted to return when I had more time and money.
I only want to make such a major move if I'm going to be able to make some serious money. I'm really up for the change in scenery and new experiences, but I'm largely motivated by being able to make a lot more money than I can make in Nashville this summer. I'm interested in anyone's feedback and experiences regarding this. Thank you, Denise
