Here we sit just a day's drive from where we were headed one week ago...Our van dropped it's transmission,in Gallup New Mexico  as it pulled our trailer nice and easy, first it lost it back-up gears ( we limped into a local RV Park) going straight in forward...We are lucky, our transmission is still under warrenty, but the nearest place to ship one was Wisconsin, so what does one do without a way to see Gallup?  Walk down the highway along Old 66,restraunts, of a lime long ago...But there is a… Continue

Happy New Year!! Just to start off the new year I have a question, one that been on my mind lately. How many resumes do you send out in the winter for next spring, and summer? Each winter we go thru the same thing, I send out between 40 to 50 resumes to get something started for next year. Each July or August the same thing for Winter jobs..I've sent out this year maybe 80 to 90 resumes,my question is WHY can't employers use e-mails just to make contact and let me know"Sorry you missed this one"… Continue

Hope you and Carolyn had a relaxing break in Pagosa Springs.  I enjoyed my couple of days there.  Irene is due to arrive next Thursday, and my son from New Zealand on Friday.  I should have lots of socializing in about a week :-) It'll be nice.   Richard

Hey Jim , good to hear from you . From reading your blog it looks as though y'all have found your niche . I'm getting  back in to seasonal work just for kicks , I've been volunteering w/ international aid orgs for awhile . Time to relax , which is what I was doing when I walked off a cliff in the Manzano Wilderness (nm) back in Oct - been laid up since although now my mobility is better and have been working on house some , otherwise cabin fever has definitely set in . We are here in Palmer Lake CO if y'all pass through - adjacent Pike Nat'l Forest , 30 min. 's to Pike's Peak .
