My hubby and I sold our house and all our "stuff" in 2000, now we live full time in a travel trailer. We work at campgrounds and resorts to make a living. Last summer we worked in Gettysburg, PA. The summer before that we worked at a campground on a river in Virginia. This season we are working for the National Park Service at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon!
I write a blog about our everyday life living in a travel trailer. I interview people at places we go, and write about what we see and do during our travels.
Last Seasonal Job:
Front Desk clerk at a campground in Gettysburg, PA.
Favorite Seasonal Job:
Volunteer Camp Host at Unicoi State Park in Georgia in the mountains.
Dream Job:
I am living my dream right now, working for the National Park Service at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.

Yes I will have my car driving in from Fl. and looking forward to the cooler weather, yes i knew about the dorms feel like I have regressed 25 years lol, but I am also looking forward to it I I worked south rim in 04 but was in an rv heard there was lots of parties in the dorms at that time there , but heard forever had stopped all that, I get along with just about everyone and love meeting new people and new experiences.
Hi Karen I will be starting North Rim in Aug , was wondering if you could give me any info on the housing I know you said you were in an Rv but any help would be appreciated, Looking foreward to meeting you.
Thanks for the reply.I'm sure there is something out there perhaps small and private. Some people wait for there children to leave(never had children) but have these wonderful creatures.
Hi Karen, Thanks for your reply. Hey, we're laid back people, so don't worry about the little lag in communications there. You had a good reason! I want so bad to take off this summer, and even to let this become a part of my lifestyle year round eventually. I just have to get rid of my house first, and I think I'd be lucky at this point to even pay it off. I had offers to Mesa Verde-crossed that off. Grand Targhee Resort-it sounds good, but you have to pay so much just to stay there-so probably not there either, and Martha's Vineyard-the same thing. Can you tell me about the jobs, housing, etc. at the North Rim? Where ever I go, I need to have my own place, or at least, someone more my age. Can't handle the party scene anymore. I have 2 girlfriends who may work at the South Rim. They are drivers, as am I. Any info at all would be appreciated. Thanks so much, and enjoy the view! Cathy
Hi Karen, I'm new to this form of communication, but find it so interesting to be able to communicate with a variety of people doing something that I hope to do some time in the future. You say you work at the North Rim? What exactly is your job? Is this your first job? Was it difficult to acquire? Very interested in the process.
Do you ever come back for a visit? How long have you been doing this? Was it hard to get started and about how long did it take you before you were accepted? Questions, Questions!!! I want to find something in September, I know that is off season for most places but I am willing to go full time right now if I can find something. Of all the places you have been which one did you like best? Oh, by the way I live in Fairfield, do you know where that is. Is your husband from Douglasville? Well, thanks for writing back. Talk to you soon. Margret
