It has sure been a long time since I've written.... well over two months!

The green house is ever changing....and that's good, it keeps me from getting bored with my job. I have recently rotated out crops the crew has voted low priority, and incorporated the ones they requested. Not to mention the…

The Middle Teton

A group of us climbed the Middle Teton on July 28th. Great stuff.

Among those fighting gravity for 6,000 vertical feet were Aubree, Alessa, Daven, Tyson, Colette and me. …

Time to be "on the road" again

What an exciting prospet it is getting back into the seasonal lifestyle. I am a bit late for the summer season, but I hope to get on at Beaver Creek, CO for the winter season. I'll post more as things progress. If anyone has any tips or prospects for an old restaurant dog, drop me a line.

beginner's luck

wow! apparently i won something for being the 100th person to post a photo on my profile. since it's against my religion to allow pictures of myself, that photo isn't even of me. *grin* that's ok; the reason for my religious practice is that, apart from stealing part of my soul (my soul, i tell you), one of my superpowers is being anti-photogenic.

ironically, i'm choosing the fuji finepix camera.

Gig Vids

We've been looking for a way to SHOW what these gigs are like for awhile. Text is a start. Photos are good. But video ought to be able to bring things to life a bit more.

Kathi just got back from a trip to Alaska and we sent along a shiny new video camera.

We have this idea of getting a "Gig Vid" theme going - where you folks doing the jobs out there show and tell about:

* where are you living and working

* what's your job

* what do you do with your time… Continue

Well, it's come that time when I started to search for somewhere new to explore. Over the last two weeks, I have made five applications...all to places I have found on Each a little different...well two are pretty close...but different than areas I have previously found myself.

There is the possibility that I'll stay put, also. I'm not going to choose another ski resort, when I have the offer of the new restaurant at Mid-Mountain.

There's Chisos Mountain…

A Say

Island Jobz

Every once in awhile a job hits our site and we have to ask ourselves if it's time to lock the door at Cool Works and pack our bags.

The Nature Conservancy hit us up this week and posted 5 gigs in the Pacific, 1,000 miles south of Hawaii.

Palmyra Atoll

These are rotational positions that can be up to 6 months in length, with the opportunity to return for future employment based on

Swimming Eagle

There are 2 bald eagles out there now that I can see. I just saw one "swimming" from mid-stream to the other side. It was sort of a breast stroke, with wings. The eagle finally made it to the other bank (no video camera this time darn it) and hopped up on shore with a fish.

Pretty good show. I headed back out with a camera and then it flew. Got a couple of pics of it before it landed in the eagle tree over there.

The… Continue

New high in resort entertainment

Well folks,

I have just started at the 49th hotel front desk that I can remember. Suffice it to say, Telluride CO is the premier resort in all my experience.

Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard, the Keys, Stowe, Aspen, Vail, Jackson, Steamboat Springs, Copper Mountain, Keystone, Breckenridge, Yellowstone National Park, Glacier National Park, Grant Teton National Park, West Yellowstone, Big Sky - none compare. What is it?

What isn't it? The scenery rivals any anywhere -…

My Inner "Ramsey"

I was coaxed into blogging today by my good friend Kari, so here I go blogging. I work in the seasonal hospitality industry. The biggest challenge with my industry for me is working with seasonal staff. Like a bad box of chocolates, you never quite know what you are getting when your seasonal staff arrives. Sure they sounded great over the phone, but phones are dirty liars some times. Phones don't tell you that the person has 40 tattoos and 6 piercings and three noses and, well you get the…
