Summer Job at Lake Powell-Halls Crossing.

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to comment on my summer job at Lake Powell-Halls Crossing. Let me start by saying that it was the most fun, most amazing, most awesome thing that I have done in my life.

I do have to mention that the General Manager, Jay, was probably one of the best persons that I had ever met out there and I just want to say that he was amazing!

Winter Crew is Leaving the South Pole

Tomorrow some 40 crew members will leave on a Hercules C17 for McMurdo Bay. The remaining 14 will filter out during the next two weeks. As for me I am scheduled to leave on November 3rd with a one night lay over in McMurdo and arrive in Christchurch on the 5th.

The Sun is Up at the South Pole

We went without sun from March til September down here. Now the "summer" begins.

We are waiting the arrival of the first passengers, though waiting on their arrival has been painful. We have almost finished the stations Spring “House Mouse” cleaning this past weekend and will do some touch ups the day of their arrival to insure the…

I've also been a hike/rock-climbing combo up Vulture's Peak. I've been on a couple of rides. Seen a couple of scorpions, and a tarantula, and tons of lizards...but nothing has bitten my butt yet. Well, have picked out a few…

Annual Fall Yellowstone Jaunt

I am packing up and getting ready for my annual Fall Yellowstone trip. My sister and I both take some time each year to renew in YNP. For twenty years it has been a spring trip but within the last two years we have been hiking in fall. This is a time for us to enjoy the landscape, share our thoughts and just plain have fun.
