Final countdown to the 2014 summer season........

As I prepare for my season working as an ATV guide in Denali National Park, I am getting my travel arrangements aka airline tickets lined up, getting my packing list for things I will be bringing finalized (2 suitcase maximum), mentally preparing for a summer adventure in Denali, and anxiously waiting for my arrival and first day I can start meeting guests and exploring Denali on ATV's. What are you doing to prepare as your final countdown to your summer of 2014 approaches? Care to share any…

Final Countdown: as your summer season arrival day approaches....

I have just over a month to go befpre I head to Yellowstone National Park. I have started going through to process of getting everything I need for the season and making a list of items I will need to get. I have also been trying to get as much rest as possible because I know it will be a busy summer in Yellowstone, and I will be busy exploring the park on days off.

What preperations are you making as your season arrival date approaches? How are you mentally…

Leo's First Update from Skagway, Alaska!

Greetings everyone,

I hope you are all having a wonderful start to your summer seasons; I know I am. In the short 4 days I have been in Alaska, I have been on two dog mushing trips, been on a ferry ride and seen humpback whales, dolphins and one killer whale, have moved into a great apartment with two roommates (both zipline guides as well) with a full kitchen and bathroom, have been exploring Juneau (2 days there), have been exploring Skagway (since Friday), been out hiking,…

Alaskaahhhhh. . . . . see you in 11 days!

As the time nears for me to head to Alaska in 11 days, I can't help but feel a mixture of emotions. I am excited to arrive in Alaska, honored be a zipline guide for the summer, ecstatic to explore a new place, anxious about living in a town that has a year round population of 800 people, curious to see the employee housing, nervous about how I will fit in with the veteran zipline guides, interested in meeting the guests and learn where they are from, giddy to see…

Be patient, be persistant and never give up!

Greetings and Happy New Year everyone,

Persistance pays off. Never settle for a job when you have the skills and desire to do greater things. Never let anyone or any company devalue your experience, qualifications or what you have to offer.

For example, I have a ton of retail and customer service experience, but I refused to let them companies define me based on what parts of my credentials they wanted to and.overlook others just to stick me in a job to fill their less… Continue

Alaska (aaaaaaah), here I come. Is anyone going to be joining me in 2012?

Greetings eveyone,

I hope everyone is having a pleasant holiday season. I know it is still November, but I have received a couple good leads for jobs in Alaska. I am 99% sure I will be working at Mt. McKinley as a front desk agent if I want the job. I am also considering other jobs with other companies in Alaska as well. One thing for sure, I will be spending the summer of 2012 in Alaska. Is anyone else going to be working in Alaska next summer? If so, what will you be doing?…
