Many nights have come and gone since the last time I posted on here - Christmas last year I think. It has been a long journey to where I am now, but I am happy. I have a job I like, live on a national refuge with about 12,000 acres of ground and wildlife out my front door. Critter even likes it here. He has plenty of interesting smells and of course, there is a kitty in the house for him to drag around by its left ear.
After leaving GTLC and traveling back to Texas, it took me another 90 days to get here. My new home is fabulous compared to what I lived in at GTLC. I've got three bedrooms, one of the biggest kitchens you could ever want, and plenty of space to stretch out in. This past summer was spent camping in the Ashley National Forest, working with the BLM on the Green River picking teasel and kayaking and just being. Swinging in my hammock under a canopy of crab apple trees - how sweet the smell.
Lots of interesting new things to learn and most of them not related to accounting. You ask how I got this job? hmmmm - well, the Feds do have a job web site and they post all of their jobs there. I applied, was interviewed, cross examined and here I am today. Oh, if you are student, they have excellent programs for you to come on board - be paid for the job while attending school. You really should check it out.
Anyway, Merry Christmas to all of my far flung friends. Hope your Christmas is bright and as beautiful as that first shining star reported by the three wise men over the lowly stable in Bethlehem.
