Thanks for being here! The six of us at CoolWorks welcome you and wish you success in finding your Jobs in Great Places®!

Here we go again...... for a third season as a Driver Guide in Alaska. What can I say, I like the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat as they would say on ABC " Wide World of Sports". I have been asked what draws one to travel so far for seasonal employment? I have heard this one numerous times, “Why on earth would you want to spend time in a frozen place like that"? There is no way to describe the beauty of Alaska. I have hundreds of photos. They don't do justice to the 49th state. I have been traveling to AK in one form or another since 2009. Each year is a new adventure. Last year was the chance of a life time. I was selected for the Road Lottery at Denali National Park. The wonders of the wilderness seemed to open up in a multiple array of colors. Traveling on the ferry from Bellingham to Whittier was also an experience I will never forget.

The trip home was an experience as well..... Sept. 29th it started snowing at Mt. McKinley Princess Lodge. I left at 10:30 AM and felt I had stayed too long. The road conditions were intense. Then at Denali, the sun appeared and it was clear sailing to Tok for a welcome stop at Young's Motel. If you have the chance, have breakfast at Fast Eddy's in Tok. They are located next to Young's Motel. You won't be disappointed. The drive through Canada to Haines, AK was an experience. Snow, sunshine, and wind all in the same day.

Once in Bellingham, WA I had a wonderful breakfast with Kari and a great catch-up conversation. The travels down the Washington and Oregon coast to see the colors were breath taking. Spent time in Lake Tahoe and Yellowstone visiting an old friend I worked with when I was in the real working world. What a life I have had... In my wildest dreams would I have guessed I'd be able to view and travel as I have.

This year I have to make a ferry change in Juneau. This means I can drive to town and look around for a couple of hours. Really looking forward to that.... Return plans are a bit different, will be driving to Skagway for the ferry home. So this old vagabond is setting sights on another wonderful adventure. I want to leave you with this thought. “Every day is a holiday" and “Every meal is a banquet". Keep those thoughts in mind and you will be successful in whatever you do....
