Thanks for being here! The six of us at CoolWorks welcome you and wish you success in finding your Jobs in Great Places®!

Leaving seasonal work.....for me, it's time.(warning I get sappy lol)

An open letter to my friends here at Coolworks and my McKinley Princess Lodge family:

After much emotion and indecision and searching, I have decided to stay in the job I am at. I loved working for Princess and love the people I met there; you guys are tops! Great people to be around....I made some fond memories there.

Recently discovering a desire to settle down here in Alaska, and have a home and a life here, as well as some permanence, has tipped the balance for me. I loved working seasonally...I wish the best for all of you in your seasonal endeavors! Since I won't be working seasonally anymore, I guess this means no more Coolworks. Kari, it's been a pleasure. The Tribe has become like a revolving-door family as well....I could always count on friendly chat no matter who was in, on the weekly chats... and I've loved reading about y'all's adventures and hopes and dreams! This is a personal, friendly website and I hope it stays that way.

Akscootr, aggie, Jeremy, Brenda, Pete, Sadie, and so many others, you all have brought a great spirit to this site and again, I cherish that. I'm an oddball who does actually make friends online, and not just in real life.

In any case.....thank you for everything, thanks for all the fish (good old Douglas Adams) and keep yer stick on the ice! (Red Green).

You ROCK!!!

You're right, Jason. This is a site of like minded folks; we the TRIBE :) And akscootr, I soooooooooo want to try fishing this summer, so we'll see what I can do about getting down your way.. Congrats, Reggie, on being the first one in your family to go to college! That takes guts and determination! Do keep visiting here so we can all know how it's going !!!! You're truly a pioneer in your of the things I love about this site and the Tribe is that we have to have more leap-of-faith attitude in what we do.. and I love how much easier it is to make new friends amongst such a group!
I am soooo excited to settle into my community here, in the little apartment I share, and do more cooking and take care of my used cactus, named Kate Jr...... and, Princess is a great company to work for, some of the best people I've ever known are there and will be there this summer. It was NOT easy choosing between the two...
Anyway.... ha ha ha agster, loons do not WEAR shoes!! But I digress..
Alaska is my home now and I am excited to have a basecamp from which to take short trips if I can... and hopefully some hiking and maybe even short camping outings! If that's not the coolworks ideal, what is?? So, y'all's are STUCK with me. The End. Back to your regularly-scheduled posting of pix...(thanks akscoo for saying my pics are pretty :D)

Hi Kate,
I'm close to the same situation only it will be in Valdez vs. Girdwood (I think), depending on Valdez Heli-camps keeping their word on my job. Everyone here is right; Just think of those who may want to come to Alaska and need to know about Alyeska. I can advise also.... we have experience that should be shared among all coolworkers who want to leave the 9-5 drudgery. As you have found out, Alaska is the ultimate spot and almost everything starts to pale in comparison. Is it any wonder that you have found home? I know I have... :0) It will be very difficult to live Outside again.
You are too important to leave us.... Stay!!! And keep posting your beautiful photography.. BTW if you want to come to Valdez for superior Silver Salmon fishing you are invited....
Much luv amiga... THE Akscootr

Whether seasonal or full-time, CoolWorks is not only a job-searching website, but a network of like-minded individuals who have the secretive ability to look past the normal Mon - Friday, 9-5 job and realize that there are jobs in beautiful places out there, waiting for us to snatch them. Its not every day you come across a website that lays it all out there for you, and says "here, pick your paid vacation". Dont leave Kate, keep the CoolWorks spirit alive and give back to those who might need the help. Plus you never know, you might just find something one day that you just cant pass up...

Good luck to you!

Kate, you're way too crazy to just up and leave us! I don't care if you are working seasonally or not .... heck, look at me .... I'm selling chocolate for Hersheys right now which definitely doesn't recruit on Coolworks! We need your wit and wisdom going forward ... don't leave us. Besides, you haven't told us why YOU want Flat Stanley's job yet :-)

Thanks, Kari. It's been a tough decision... My personal situation and circumstances are difficult enough I had to go this route. Glad to know I can still visit :)
Have fun in Yellowstone, Jeremy! Get out there and enjoy the park, don't just sit inside ...
I hope the economy gets back to something resembling normal..... I think spending money on vacations and things is a good way for people to have a good time AND help save jobs...
