Living & Working in Great Places
Thanks for being here! The six of us at CoolWorks welcome you and wish you success in finding your Jobs in Great Places®!
I've had alot of crazy stuff happen lately, among them a serious surgery which totally prevented me from taking my job in Yellowstone. HR understood completely, staying in touch with me as my doctors put me on 6 weeks medical leave, which includes no bending or twisting my back, and no lifting any weights over of 10 pounds. A gal can't cook under those restrictions.
Serious Bummer!
I missed working preseason at Snowlodge, and now, I'll miss Lake Lodge, and I do mean miss.If you get a chance to work in Yellowstone, do it. Xanterra is a great employer. Maybe someday I'll get to go back.
So, for this season, I'm recouping and maybe going to settle down here by my family. Life happens when you're making other plans

All I need is the paper faxed stating what the doctor told me on Thursday last week, No Restrictions, go do what you want, he said, go have fun. This is the same doctor who did my surgery, they told me I heal really fast.
Yeah! I can't wait to get back out there. If not at Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, Zion, anywhere cause I miss the mountains.
Thanks to everyone who posted and sent good karma and vibes my way. My strength has returned. I love you guys!
Hi Rob, I called the doctor with a few questions, told him I was walking 3 miles a day, lifting some 5 pound weights, multiple repetitions, and he was seriously impressed. They never ordered any physical therapy for me! So, on the 21st, I get my 6 weeks check up, and hopefully cleared to work again. I have a job offer here locally, and they are aware of my limitations ....so weird, hunh? From totally fit to touch and go, and now on the mend.
thanks for asking, Rob
So Carol, what's that latest? Any improvement? Do they have you starting physical therapy soon?
Thanks Annelises and Kari. I am ready now!
Thinking of buying a class C motor home and looking for a camp host job this season. I need something low key until I'm fully recovered.
Any ideas?
I am also wishing you a speedy recovery Carol.
Thanks Aggie! I am still sad about missing this season. Looking at life differently, feeling not so much like myself, the wanderer!
So sorry to read about your surgery ... I know how badly you wanted to return to Yellowstone. Do get well and you'll be better than ever! Still looking forward to trying your cooking in the future :-)
Richard
Thanks reggie and Rob. I had a tumor removed from my spine, very delicate surgury. Thanks for the good wishes. I'm doing very well, my daughter warns me my biggest problem will be remembering my "restrictions"!
hope you get better soon
