I worked at the Tamarack resort for their 06/07 ski season and summer 07 for their golf/mtn bike season. During the winter I was in the Seven Devils Pub at the base of the ski hill. The summer in their fine dining restaurant, Morels.
Tamarack Resort was an ambitious building project. They were developing an empty West Mountain near Donnelly, Idaho into a complete ski/golfing resort. The project was huge.
Some think too big a project for anytime. Definitely too big a project for this economy. Their first problems started awhile ago when their major banking partner had over 7 billion dollar losses in other areas. Then the Fairmont group backed out, and other banks balked at such a huge project.
It was an interesting development. President Bush visited early. It won several awards both from the skiing and golfing communities. I enjoyed most of the time there and made several friends.
Hopefully, in a few years a group will come along and complete the vision. But for now, it looks like March 5th will be their last day.
